Male Arrested for Failing to Provide Necessaries of Life

A Cobourg man faces charges after a police investigation into an incident involving a child at the Cobourg waterfront.

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., police responded to the marina after a bystander pulled a child from the water. Emergency services attended and treated the child, who was transported to Northumberland Hills Hospital for precautionary measures. The Children’s Aid Society was contacted to assist with the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Fail to Provide Necessaries of Life; Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal and Being intoxicated in public place.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
