Video – Dredging Begins in Cobourg Harbour

In Local

The annual dredging near the mouth of the Cobourg Harbour began last week on May 30, 2024.

With sediment filling in the mouth area of the harbour each year, the dredger known as the Marie Dressler is used to removed the sand from the bottom.

It’s sucked through hose to Victoria Beach where the sand stays on the beach, but the water goes back into the lake.

It’s expecting dredging will be taking place for a few more weeks before the dredger goes to Port Hope to work on their harbour entrance.
