The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual following a complaint from a member of the public.
On May 31, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of unknown persons with a vehicle outside an address on Ganaraska Road in the Municipality of Port Hope.
Officers patrolled the area and observed a vehicle matching the description provided by the caller. The vehicle was stopped by police and following speaking with the driver, officers entered into an impaired operation investigation. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made and as a result, the driver was arrested and transported to local detachment for further testing.
John MAY, 30-years-old, from Oshawa, has been charged with:
– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
– ; Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
– Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
– Driver fail to surrender licence
– Fail to surrender insurance card
– Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle.
The driver had their licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
