City of Belleville – Public Service Announcement for Construction Site Scam

In City Hall

The City of Belleville would like to advise residents that there have been reports of door-to-door driveway paving and other construction scams throughout the city. Some reports have suggested individuals are impersonating City of Belleville staff to solicit their driveway spraying, yard maintenance and other services. We would like to take this opportunity to note that City staff do not go door-to-door selling services and remind residents to ensure they are doing their due diligence before hiring contractors. What to watch for:

· Cash-only service and or asking for cash up-front

· Lack of proper equipment

· Asphalt products produced far away

A reminder also that Road Cut Permits/Occupancy Permits are required while working on the City’s portion of a driveway. Permits can be obtained through Permit Central. For more information, contact Transportation & Operations Services at 613-967-3275 or opgeneral@belleville.ca.
