Belleville Police Service – Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation (Name Released)

A 22-year-old man appeared for a bail hearing today in a Belleville courtroom following his arrest in connection to a homicide in the city last fall.

On Thursday, members of the Belleville Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Division with the assistance from the Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit, K9 and Project Renewal members arrested a 22-year-old Oshawa man for his alleged role in a homicide that occurred at a North Front Street address on the 18th of September, 2023.

Marlon McDonald, 22 was arrested at an address in the city of Oshawa.

During the arrest, police seized approximately five kilograms of crystal meth, approximately two kilograms of cocaine, a large quantity of Canadian currency and a loaded 9mm Glock handgun with an extended magazine.

As a result of the homicide and arrest seizure, McDonald is charged with a total of 18 charges including:

· First degree murder;

· Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm x2;

· Unauthorized possession of a firearm x2;

· Pointing a firearm;

· Discharge firearm with intent;

· Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition;

· Carrying a concealed weapon;

· Unauthorized possession of a weapon;

· Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order x2;

· Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;

· Possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking;

· Proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000;

· Resist peace officer;

· Failure to comply with release order x2.

McDonald was held for a bail hearing and appeared today in a Belleville court.

Homicide – Shooting

On the 18th of September 2023 at 3:20 am, Belleville Police responded to an address on Ridley Street regarding a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a deceased male who had been shot. The deceased remains unidentified.

The Belleville Police Forensic Identification Unit continue to process the scene for evidence. The investigation is being continued by the Belleville Police Criminal Investigations Division. Members are in the process of attempting to identify the deceased. No arrests have been made. Police believe that this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to public safety.
