Cobourg Police – Downtown Action Plan Results in Cobourg Man Charged with Drug Possession and Failing to Leave Premises (Name Released)

Since May 1, 2024, the 2024 Downtown Action Plan comprises a series of proactive crime prevention measures alongside ongoing harm reduction programs. Enforcement of laws and regulations will be a critical focus, particularly in interactions requiring direct intervention due to specific actions or behaviors of individuals.

On Monday, May 6th, 2024, at 7:00pm, police responded to a call for two adult females and an adult male loitering and refusing to leave a property on King Street in the downtown core.

Police arrived and directed them to leave. The two females complied and left the area, but the male refused and was arrested under the authority of the Trespass to Property Act. Search incident to arrest revealed a small quantity of suspected fentanyl, located on his person.

54-year-old Richard “Ricky” WATTS of Cobourg was charged for failing to leave premise when directed and drug possession. He was released on scene with a future court date.
