Northumberland OPP – Suspect Charged with Fail to Comply

Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a driver with failure or refusal to comply with demand.

On April 26, 2024, at approximately 8:25 p.m., Police responded to a report of a vehicle on Ontario Street in Brighton and that the driver may be experiencing difficulty. Officers located the vehicle nearby and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, they were determined to be under the influence of alcohol. OPP made a breath demand into an Approved Screening Device (ASD) of which the driver failed to comply.

A 36-year-old from Brighton has been charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
