Impaired Arrest

A 22-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 2:30am on April 27, 2024, officers were called after a report of a vehicle into a building at George Street North and Sherbrooke Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that an off-duty officer had stopped to help after a vehicle had struck several parked vehicles and a number of trees before coming to a stop. Officers approached the driver and conducted a roadside sobriety test. Witnesses also reported the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed at the time of the collision.

As a result, a 22-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Operation while impaired – alcohol
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Dangerous Operation

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 21, 2024.

 

Weapons/Utter Threats/Mischief Arrest

A 15-year-old Peterborough male is facing several charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 8:20pm on April 27, 2024, officers were called to the area of Western Avenue and Chamberlain Street about a young male causing damage to a trailer in a driveway and that the male had started chasing two passersby with a knife and verbally threatening them. Upon arrival officers located the male with the knife and initiated a gun point arrest. The male was taken into custody without incident and the knife seized. Officers further learned that two other passersby were chased by the individual. No one was injured in the incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
Mischief Under $ 5,000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 13, 2024.

 

Theft Suspect Sought – Update

A 45-year-old Peterborough man has been charged in connection with the theft of planters from the front of a business in March.

As a result of an investigation, the man was arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024, and charged with:

Theft under $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 21, 2024.

The planters were returned to the business. Please remove any images or video from circulation.
