Theft Suspect Sought

The Peterborough Police Service Community FIRST unit is investigating after the theft of planters from a business.

At approximately 10:30am on March 19, 2024, the business in the Reid Street and Simcoe Street area reported that a male came onto the porch, checked to see if the planters were movable and then returned several hours later and took them off the front porch.

Motor Vehicle Collision – Water Street

A single vehicle collision on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, on Water Street at Antrim was the result of a medical episode.  An off-duty officer was in the area and found a male driver without vital signs.  The off-duty officer started life saving measures and then along with the help of EMS the male regained a pulse and was taken to hospital for treatment.  The road was closed from about 5:30pm until 2:00am for repairs to a hydro pole.

 

Assault with a Weapon Arrest

A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge after an incident Wednesday evening.

At approximately 11:00pm on April 24, 2024, officers were called to a residence about a male threatening his roommates with a knife.  Upon arrival, officers were able to get the roommates out of the residence.  Officers then tried to call out to the suspect but did not receive a response.  Shortly after, officers smelled something burning in the area of the suspect’s bedroom.  They were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody without incident.  A small fire was extinguished.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with A Weapon

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 25, 2024.
