Update – Cobourg Police – Arrest Made in Fire Investigation (No Name Released)

A 58-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges as a result of a police investigation into a fire Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, police opened an investigation into the circumstances of a fire after responding to a report of a fire behind businesses on Strathy Road Wednesday morning. The

Cobourg Fire Department extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. The fire caused damage to a nearby building and business property.

With the assistance of CCTV surveillance footage, police identified the individual involved.

As a result of the police investigation, a 58-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with mischief destroys or damages property.

The accused was released with a future court date.
