ALTERNA SAVINGS ANNOUNCES REWARD IN BELLEVILLE CREDIT UNION ROBBERY CASE
April 19, 2024 – Belleville, ON, Alterna Savings, alongside the Belleville Police Service and Quinte Crime Stoppers, has offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the armed robbery at its 293 Sidney Street branch in March of 2024.
Background of the Incident:
On March 16, 2024, two male suspects armed with handguns executed a robbery at Alterna Savings’ Sidney Street, Belleville branch. The robbers escaped in a white SUV. This incident is being rigorously investigated by the Belleville Police Service, alongside efforts by Alterna Savings to ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of its employees and members.
Reward for Information:
In its commitment to community safety, Alterna Savings is offering a reward of $50,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

Theft & Possession of Stolen Property
On the 18th of April, 2024, at 10:00 am, the Belleville Police were called to a north end business in regards to a suspect stealing personal property from the employees who were cleaning the business. The suspect left prior to police arrival, however, officers located the suspect at a nearby hotel. 40-year-old Marco Brosseau of no fixed address was charged with Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Stolen Property. The accused will appear in court on May 2nd, 2024.
Warrants
On the 18th of April, 2024, at 7:30 pm, the Belleville Police located a suspect on North Front St. who was wanted on outstanding charges presently before the courts. 28-year-old Nicholas Semple of Belleville was arrested and held for bail on charges of Break & Enter, Fail to Appear in Court, and Breach of Probation. The accused will appear in court today, April 18th.
Suspicious Incident
On the 18th of April, 2024, at 7:30pm, officers were called to an east end residence in regards to a garbage bag left on the property. The complainant advised officers that they believed that there was a firearm in the bag. Upon inspection of the bag, officers did locate what appeared to be a firearm, which turned out to be a BB gun. In the bag, officers also located a large snapping turtle wrapped up in plastic bags. Officers carefully unwrapped the oversized terrapin, freeing him from its polyethylene prison. Officers got the turtle to the animal care shelter and care was provided. Police were advised that the turtle is in good spirits and will recover.
Fail to Comply with Probation
On the 18th of April, 2024, at 9:00 pm, police were called to an east end address in regards to a male swinging a scooter at a group of people. On scene, police located the suspect and the investigation revealed that the subject was bound by several probation orders made by the Ontario court of Justice. As a result, the 38-year-old man from Picton was arrested and held for bail on 11 counts of Breach of Probation. The accused will appear in court today, April 19th.
