Ward 2 Port Hope residents should soon get updated by-election information in the mail, Clerk Shrishma Dave said at council this week.

June 6 is the date of the by-election to fill the Ward 2 seat vacated by Chris Collins, who was appointed a Justice of the Peace by the province.

“Preparations are currently ongoing. Municipal staff are working very hard to make sure we are fulfilling all our legislative obligations, including accessibility planning, which will be put forward on the municipal website,” Dave said.

“The municipal by-election website is live and signage advertising the by-election is posted in Ward 2

“We will be sending communications to Ward 2 households with important information on the by-election. This should be coming in the mail the next week or 10 days.”

Dave said that the most updated information is on the municipal website, and urged potential voters to keep up to date. She said information is also on their social-media page, and questions can also be directed to election@porthope.ca

Nominations close 2 p.m. April 22, Dave added, after which a complete final list of candidates will be released.
