March is National Nutrition Month, not to mention March for Meals Month. Toss in the upcoming Easter holiday, and you have the perfect reason to support the annual Community Care Northumberland Easter cookie sale.

Once again, Roda’s Kitchen is producing Easter cookie boxes in support of the agency’s Meals On Wheels program which, in the 2022-2023 year, delivered 40,421 meals to 636 Northumberland residents.

Each cookie box contains five individually wrapped beautifully decorated Easter cookies for $20. And from each sale, $8 supports the work of Community Care in delivering some 3,000 hot and frozen meals each month to the clients who need them.

This work will also be celebrated with annual March for Meals event in which local mayors volunteers and other community members act as Community Champions, taking a turn at helping Community Care make the deliveries.

Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird expressed her gratitude for the community’s unwavering support in the announcement.

“The cookie fundraiser and March for Meals initiative are essential components in meeting the nutritional requirements of our clients and community, simultaneously amplifying awareness about this invaluable program,” Baird said.

Cookie orders will be taken between March 1 and 28 at www.commcare.ca with pick-up taking place March 27 and 28 at Community Care offices in Brighton, Campbellford and Cobourg.
