Northumberland OPP – Trenton Man Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

One person has been charged following an impaired operation investigation.

On February 19, 2024, at approximately 2:40 p.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pick-up truck in a ditch on Cameron Road in Brighton.

Officers arrived on the scene and there were no injuries reported. Police then entered into an impaired operation investigation. As a result, the accused was arrested and transported to a detachment for further testing.

William LECLAIR, 23-years-old from Trenton has been charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

· Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

The OPP reminds motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
