What is a Zoning By-law Amendment
A Zoning By-law is a legally enforceable document that controls the use of land within a community. Using a series of land use zones and labels, it generally spells out:

• How land and buildings may be used;

• Where buildings and other structures may be located; and,

• What restrictions may be related to the development of a specific property.

The Town of Cobourg Comprehensive Zoning By-law #85-2003 maps out each geographic area of the town into a series of land use zones and labels to clearly identify how specific land
and properties can be developed.

Significant changes to land use or zone regulations require a Zoning By-law Amendment application. If approved, a Zoning By-law Amendment allows an applicant to alter the current
approved use of their property, without the Town of Cobourg requiring a complete rewrite of the Town’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law.

Additional Information
Additional Information that will enable the public to understand the proposed application is available in the Planning Department at Victoria Hall during regular office hours by contacting
the Planning and Development Department at (905) 372-1005 and reference File Number ZB-2024-001. Most of the submitted material can be viewed on the Town’s Development
Dashboard, available on the Town’s Planning and Development website page at Cobourg.ca/PlanningApplications.
