Cobourg Police – Looking for Public’s Assistance with Ongoing Investigation

The Cobourg Police Service (CPS) is looking to identify two individuals involved in a distraction theft in the Town of Cobourg.

On Thursday, February 1, 2024, police received a report of theft. It was reported that a purse and its contents were taken from a shopping cart while the victim was browsing the shelf at a business in the area of Strathy Road and DePalma Drive.

Police have obtained CCTV footage from the business and are looking to identify the individuals in the photos.

It is believed that the individuals may be involved in distraction thefts in neighbouring communities.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward. Report suspicious activity to police.

CPS reminds residents always to be aware of their surroundings and always keep handbags, purses, or wallets secured and with them.
