Attention Students – Health Professions Scholarship Deadline is Approaching

In Local

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
Northumberland Hills Hospital announces that it is accepting applications for the annual Health Professions Scholarships.

At the board’s February meeting, the report from President and Chief Executive Officer Susan Walsh set out some of the history and criteria for this award.

It was introduced in 2003 not only to support students from West Northumberland who are pursuing a career in the health-care sector but also in hopes that – after their training is completed – they will bring their gifts and talents back to their home community when it comes time to begin their career paths.

Applicants are evaluated on the basis of their academic achievements and extra-curricular activities, and must provide written references and a testimonial explaining their interest in the health-care field. They must also be enrolled or accepted for enrolment in an appropriate full-time study program.

A promotional campaign is planned this month to remind local students (and their families) and raise awareness of the March 29 deadline to apply.

And, as always, time will be set aside at the June board meeting to announce and celebrate the winners.

More details are available on the Careers tab of the Student Scholarship section of the hospital website.
