Hamilton Township – Message from CAO Regarding ROMA’s Report Improving Rural Health Services

In City Hall

ROMA media contact Farah Tayabali sent a news release to CAO Arthur Anderson regarding the crisis in Ontario’s healthcare system.

It stated, one of the features of the 2024 ROMA Conference was the launch of ROMA’s report on improving rural access to health services, called Fill the Gaps Closer to Home. This paper provides compelling data on the disproportionate impact of the health crisis on rural Ontario. And it provides thoughtful recommendations on how the province and communities can work together to address the crisis – from how to fix primary care to ensuring Ontario Health Teams have municipal representatives at the table.

It is important for the rural municipal sector to keep the momentum going on this advocacy work. If this issue resonates for you, please send the attached news release to your local media. The release was distributed via newswire; however, we often find local media are receptive to information from their local municipality.

Tayabaili also sent a link to background on the report.

(Editor’s Note:  It’s likely most news outlets other than major cities do not subscribe to Newswire.  Going by memory to post on newswire years ago it cost hundreds of dollars.  Given the name ROMA, I’m not sure why they would even subscribe to Newswire)
