Breaking News – School Lockdown Resulting from Disturbance at Cobourg Collegiate Institute

On Friday, November 17, 2023, police responded to Cobourg Collegiate Institute for a report of a disturbance.

Police were informed that staff were working to de-escalate a situation with a student. CCI staff placed the school in a brief lockdown as a precautionary measure. The lockdown has been lifted, and there is no concern for the safety of students or staff.

We want to confirm that reports being shared on social media of guns or weapons as a reason for the lockdown are false.
