Cobourg Police – Elderly Man Charged with Assaulting Youth and Demanding Money (No Name Released)

A 72-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police investigate a report of an assault.

On Friday, November 10, the Cobourg Police Service received a report of an assault near Spencer Street and Munroe Street in the Town of Cobourg.

Police received information that a youth had been assaulted by an adult male he recognized from other incidents in the neighbourhood. Investigation revealed that the accused approached the youth, grabbed him by both shoulders, spun him around, and demanded money.

On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, upon the conclusion of the investigation, police arrested a 72-year-old Cobourg man and charged him with Assault.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
