Durham Regional Police Service – Thirteen-Year-Old Charged After Stabbing

A 13-year-old male has been arrested after stabbing another youth on Friday in Pickering.

On Friday, October 27, 2023, at approximately 6:25 p.m., members of West Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Kingston Road and Orchard Valley Court in Pickering. Police arrived on scene and located a 15-year-old male suffering from a stab wound.  The victim was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  The suspect was known to the victim and had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, the suspect attended a DRPS division with his guardians to turn himself in.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The victim’s status has since been upgraded to stable.

A 13-year-old male from Pickering is charged with: Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon, Possess Weapon Dangerous to the Public, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

He was held for a bail hearing.
