Town of Cobourg Invites Community to Participate in the 2023 Santa Claus Parade

Parade registration and sponsorship opportunities are now open
The Town of Cobourg’s Community Services Division is eager to announce that preparations have begun for the 2023 Cobourg Santa Claus Parade which will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 6 p.m.

This year’s parade theme is Holiday Movies and Classic Holiday Cartoons. Parade participants are encouraged to embrace the parade theme and incorporate both music and lighting in their
displays. The parade route travels along King Street, starting at the library and travelling east through downtown to D’Arcy Street.

Judging will take place in the following categories: Best Commercial Float, Best Non- Commercial Float, Best Themed Float, and People’s Choice Award.

Food Bank Donations:
The Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank will once again be collecting non-perishable food items for the food bank. Collection will happen at the beginning of the parade and just before
Santa’s sleigh. This year, as well as non-perishable food, cash donations will be accepted.

Letters to Santa:
Children are welcome to bring their letters to Santa which will be collected at the beginning of the parade by the Canada Post Elves.

Parade on COGECO:
For those who cannot attend the event the parade in person the event will be streamed with commentary on COGECO’s YourTV Northumberland (Cable 10 / HD Cable 700). Schedule to
follow.

Seeking Parade Sponsors
The Town of Cobourg’s Santa Claus Parade is made possible thanks to the support of local community sponsors. This year’s parade still has many sponsorship levels available. Chec out Experience Cobourg’s parade page for the sponsorship levels and details.

Participate in the Parade
Experience Cobourg is now accepting registrations from community organizations, groups and businesses who want to be a part of the 2023 Cobourg Santa Claus Parade. Those interested
are encouraged to review the rules and regulations and eligibility guidelines prior to submitting.

Parade Background
Since 1955, the Cobourg Santa Claus Parade has kicked off the Christmas season thanks to the Lions Club of Cobourg. This group of volunteers has worked tirelessly over the years to host a parade in the community, bringing people together, regardless of their background, celebrating hope, family and love. In 2020, the Town of Cobourg assumed responsibility for the parade under the guidance of the Lions Club of Cobourg to ensure the community can experience the same magic of the season.

• December 16, Skate with Santa at the Cobourg Community Centre

• December 27, Mayor and Council Holiday Skate

• December 31, First Night Celebrations

• January 3, Mayor’s Levee
