Cobourg Police Service Announces “Dynamic Patrol” (On Three Streets)

In Police Blotter

In response to increased reports of property crime (theft and mischief) and resident concerns brought forward to police, the Cobourg Police Service (CPS) will enhance proactive patrols in
east-end residential neighbourhoods through the Dynamic Patrol initiative.

This foot patrol initiative is intended to enhance police service delivery through proactive patrols, increasing visibility, and community engagement efforts in the Town of Cobourg.

“Through communications received over the last few weeks, we have heard our community wants a more visible police presence and engagement in the east end of Cobourg. We will shift our Dynamic Patrol initiative to provide reassurance and increase the opportunity for engagement with all residents, hear comments and concerns directly from people of that area,” said Chief Paul VandeGraaf, Cobourg Police Service.

While assigned to Dynamic Patrol, CPS members engage with community members to continue to build relationships with residents, business owners, and visitors in downtown Cobourg.

Residents can expect to see increased police patrols in and around east-end neighbourhoods, including, but not limited to, the following streets:

• Thomas Street

• Meredith Avenue

• Jane Street

If you are in an emergency or witness a crime in progress, please call 9-1-1 immediately.

About Dynamic Patrol

CPS has created the Dynamic Patrol initiative as part of the CPS Downtown Action Plan. Officers wearing highly visible uniform apparel will conduct foot patrols focused on engagement, intervention, prevention, enforcement, and community mobilization. Dynamic Patrol is an ongoing initiative to increase police presence in local neighbourhoods and near businesses. Deployment of officers on foot occurs as necessary in various community areas.
