Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Assault with a Weapon (Axe) in Downtown Disturbance (No Name Given)

A Cobourg resident is facing charges after police responded to a disturbance at a residence downtown early Thursday morning.

On Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 12:40 a.m., members of the Cobourg Police Service responded to a report of an altercation between two adult males involving an axe near King Street East and McGill Street. No injuries were sustained by either male.

As a result of the police investigation, a 47-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and mischief to property under $5,000.

The accused was held for a bail hearing scheduled for October 12, 2023.
