Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums Helps Out Legion After Break-In

In Editor Choice, Local

The Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums helped out in a big way after thieves stole thousands of dollars from Cobourg Branch 133 last weekend.

Thieves stole two safes containing thousands of dollars from weekend events.

Branch 133 President Rod Ingersol said it had been one of the best weekends for the Branch in a long time due to the slow summer months.

On Thursday, Jane Ashley (President of the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums) presented Ingersol with a cheque for $5000 to help offset the recent theft from the Legion.

“It is unbelievable, the amount that was donated,” said Ingersol.

“It was not expected at all. It blew me away and it almost brought tears to my eye. I’m extremely happy as well as the entire executive.”

Cobourg Police are still investigating the theft and are asking if anyone has any information to call police or CrimeStoppers.
