City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Driver Facing Numerous Criminal Charges (No Name Released)

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed Hwy 35 for a motor vehicle collision.

On August 24, 2023 at approximately 4:20 pm, officers responded, alongside with Kawartha Lakes Fire and EMS, to a motor vehicle collision involving an SUV and car at the intersection of Hwy 35 and County Road 121.

The highway was closed from Ranchers Road to Powell’s Road.

One driver of a motor vehicle has been arrested and charged.

A 16 year old was charged with:

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  • Flight from Police Officer
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Disguise with Intent

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.
