SARTECS Train with Coast Guard on Lake Ontario

In Editor Choice

Members of the Canadian Coast Guard cutter Cape Rescue were once again teaming up training with members of 424 Search and Rescue Squadron from CFB Trenton on Friday, July 14, 2023.

With different crews, training is a must for keeping up the skills of every member of the crew whether it be on the Griffon helicopter or on  the Cape Rescue.

Every member has a job to do that has to be done to perfection.

Along with lowering and hoisting SARTECS (Search and Rescue Technicians) while the cutter maintains course and speed, they also simulated when a boat is dead in the water and lowering the SARTECS.

Because of the power of the rotors, the cutter starts to turn and the pilots have to always adjust why they lower the SARTEC onto the deck of the ship.
