Township of Hamilton Receives Superior Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation

In City Hall

The Township of Hamilton is pleased to announce that the Fire Department has received Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation. The Accreditation program under the Fire Protection Survey Services recognizes a fire department’s ability to shuttle water by way of tanker trucks to fight fires in areas without municipal hydrants.
To be granted accreditation:

1. Within five (5) minutes of the first pumper arriving at the fire scene, firefighters must be able to deliver a minimum of 900 litres/minute of water.

2. The Fire Department must maintain the water flow uninterrupted for two (2) hours.

The Township has received accreditation for both residential and industrial level service.

This accreditation not only demonstrates the Township’s commitment to ensuring efficient and effective fire services and protection for residents, it may also benefit residents by reducing insurance premiums with their insurance providers.

By presenting a copy of the Accreditation Certificate, residents and businesses that are not located within close proximity of fire hydrants may be entitled to the same insurance premiums as residents and businesses that are on municipal hydrant systems.

To request a copy of the Accreditation Certificate, please email fireprevention@hamiltontownship.ca with the subject line “Tanker Shuttle Accreditation”
