Heat Warning Issued for Cobourg and Northumberland County

Town of Cobourg reminds residents who require temporary respite from the heat to visit Municipal Cooling Centres

The Town of Cobourg would like to advise all residents that that a heat warning is in effect for Cobourg and Northumberland County.

Environment Canada is forecasting hot, humid weather, with daytime temperatures July 4 and 5 to reach 27 degrees (feels like low to mid 30’s) and evening temperatures to stay above 20 degrees. The Town of Cobourg is advising residents to take precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses. Heat-related illnesses such as dehydration, heat cramps, heat exhaustion,
and heat stroke can be very dangerous, especially to those most vulnerable to health risks including people who work outdoors, people who are unhoused, elderly and some people with
disabilities or chronic diseases, people who are pregnant, and children and infants.

The Town of Cobourg would like to advise all residents, that those who require temporary respite from the heat are welcome to attend one of the following municipal cooling centres.
Town of Cobourg Temporary Cooling Centres:

• Victoria Hall, 55 King St W, Cobourg
o Monday to Friday 8:30am – 7pm
o Saturday 12pm – 4pm

• Cobourg Police Station, 107 King St W, Cobourg
o Monday to Friday 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
o Saturday 8 a.m.–12 p.m.

• Library, 200 Ontario St, Cobourg
o Monday to Wednesday 10am-8pm
o Thursday – Saturday 10am-5pm

• Cobourg Community Centre 750 D’Arcy St, Cobourg
o Monday to Thursday 7am-11pm
o Friday, 7am – 9pm
