City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Driver Arrested Following Collision (Name Released)

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a driver after a collision involving a side by side left three people with serious injuries.

On June 30, 2023 at approximately 11:25 pm officers were dispatched to a serious collision involving a single side-by-side on Muskie Drive in Little Britain. The driver was transported to a local hospital along with the three passengers who sustained serious injuries.

Muskie Drive was clo sed for several hours while OPP Central Region Technical Traffic investigators completed their on-scene investigation.

As a result of the investigation the driver was arrested and charged.

Ben COCHRANE, 32 year-of-age, of OPS Township has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on August 3, 2023.

OPP would like to remind the public that it is illegal to drive impaired on any motorized vehicle; this includes ATV’s and boats, and can occur anywhere, including private property and waterways. If you suspect someone is driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol call 9-1-1.
