Quinte West OPP – Two “Unique” Saturday Night Impaired Investigations (Names Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges for two separate impaired driving investigations.

On June 17, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers were parked on Queen Street, Trenton in their police vehicle. Officers observed a driver pull over and exit their vehicle showing signs of impairment. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

Kurt GIMPEL, 71 years old from Trenton, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80.

On June 17, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Quinte West OPP detachment parking lot for a motorist who wanted to re-assure his passenger that he was legally able to drive. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

Justin FERGUSON, 35 years old from Trenton, has been charge with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80.

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 6, 2023. Additionally, their vehicles were impounded for seven days, and licences were suspended for 90 days.
