Durham Regional Police Detective Constable Also Facing Charge Under HTA by Port Hope Police

Today’s Northumberland has learned a Durham Regional Police Detective Constable is facing another charge by Port Hope Police stemming from an incident on April 29, 2023.

On May 18, 2023, as a result of the investigation, Trevor KATHNELSON, 43-years old of Northumberland County was charged by Northumberland OPP with public mischief.

Today’s Northumberland has learned that Kathnelson was also charged by Port Hope Police under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to report a motor vehicle accident after pickup truck hit a light standard causing minor damage at the intersection of Molson Street at Ontario Street.

Sgt Joanne Bortoluss of the Durham Regional Police Service said has not been charged under the Police Services Act.

Kathnelson is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on June 14, 2023.
