Quinte West OPP – Person Charged in Rental Fraud Investigation

 The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with fraud.

On May 9, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers responded to a residence in Carrying Place for a report of a fraud. First and last months rent had been paid to a person portraying themselves as the owner of the property. When the new tenant arrived on their move in date, they were turned away. An investigation led to a pers on being arrested.

Heather TODD, 36 years old from Quinte West, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Fraud under $5000.
  • Obtaining by false pretence under $5000
  • Use forged document

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 6, 2023
