Fire at Cobourg Factory Causes Minor Damage

In Local

A structure fire in Brook Road North in Cobourg caused minimal damage on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

At approximately 7 am firefighters were dispatched to a recycling facility located at the rear of 701 Brook Road North for reports of black smoke coming from the building. Hamilton Township was also dispatched.

Upon entry firefighters discovered a fire in one of the rooms where cardboard and plastic had been burning. When a sprinkler was activated due to the heat it extinguished most of the fire.

Due to materials that were burning, black smoke permeated throughout the rear of the building.

Fire Chief Ellard Beaven said due to the sprinkler activation there was minimal damage and that both fire departments worked well together.
