Peterborough County OPP – Single Vehicle Collision Leads to Impaired Driving Charges (Name Released)

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Tara Road in Selwyn Township at approximately 5:15 p.m. on April 1, 2023. The complainant reported that a vehicle, a tractor, left the roadway flipping into the ditch and then attempted to continue along the road. The driver of the tractor was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Christian BOWEN (age 27) of Selwyn Township, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 9, 2023.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
