Update – Durham Regional Police – Stolen Vehicle Crashes Into Residential Home in Port Hope Following Pursuit

A suspect is wanted after crashing into a residential home in Port Hope following a pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

 

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at approximately 3:51 a.m., members of East Division observed a Dodge Ram truck travelling east on Highway 401 at Courtice Road. Upon investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to stop. Police engaged in a pursuit with the vehicle, losing sight of the vehicle in a subdivision in Port Hope. Police later located the vehicle, which had crashed into a residential home in the area of Victoria Street South and Strachan Street.

 

The suspect had fled on foot into a greenspace. With the assistance of two K-9 units, the area was searched. It was learned that the suspect was picked up by another vehicle in the area.

 

The suspect is described as: male, Black, mid 20’s, approximately 6’2” tall.

 

Police are asking for anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to please contact police.
