City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Two Arrested in Omemee for Kidnapping and Weapons Charges (Names Released)

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP have arrested two suspects in connection to a variety of charges, including kidnapping and discharge of firearm with intent.

On December 16, 2022 just before 3:30 am officers were dispatched to an assault in Omemee in the area of King Street. Further investigation has since led to the arrest of two accused on multiple weapons related charges.

Faysai WISO, 19 years-of-age of Omemee has been charged with:

  • Kidnapping while using certain firearms – confined
  • Intimidation – use or threatens use of violence
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
  • Extortion While Using Firearm
  • Discharge firearm with Intent
  • Failure to comply with undertaking -two counts
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of Firearm
  • Possession of firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime

 

Janai JEAN 22 years-of-age of Scarborough, has been charged with:

  • Kidnapping while using certain firearms – confined
  • Intimidation – use or threatens use of violence
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Extortion While Using Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition
  • Assault
  • Possessi on of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused are both remanded in custody with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay
