Northumberland Players Give Back

In Local

The holiday season is a time for sharing and, like many organizations, Northumberland Players is putting its own special gifts to the service of the community.

Their holiday performances always add a touch of cheer, and this year they are adding something new – a pay-what-you-can performance for charity at the Firehall Theatre on Monday, Dec. 19, with proceeds supporting the Cobourg Food Bank.’

This is a version of the musical play reading they will be performing of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol at Rosewood Estates, Empire Crossing, Victoria Retirement, Legion Village and Palisade Gardens. Their recent newsletter notes that they do this kind of thing from time to time, pop-up play readings (often with music) at retirement homes to show recognition for the generous on-going support they get from the community.

The Firehall Theatre is located at 213 Second St., and the performance begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on the Northumberland Player website.

Meanwhile, if you had thought of taking in the Northumberland Players Youth Theatre production of A Charlie Brown Christmas, it is sold out – both the school performances and the public performances.

Fortunately, tickets remain available for this weekend’s presentation of seasonal music A Wonderful Christmas Time, with songs old and new at the Victoria Hall Concert Hall – at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3, and at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4. Tickets for this are also available on the Northumberland Player website.
