Cobourg Cougars Earn 5-3 Win Over Collingwood

The Cobourg Cougars handed the visiting Collingwood Blues just their second loss of the Ontario Junior Hockey League season Wednesday night.
Two unanswered goals in the second period paced the Cougars to a 5-3 victory over the Blues at the Cobourg Community Centre.
Andy Reist scored twice for Cobourg with Caleb Thompson, Trevor Hoskin and Kallaway Mercer adding single tallies.
Cobourg, now 12-4-0-1, led twice in the opening frame with Collingwood (14-2-0-0) answering back to both goals. The Cougars took a 4-2 lead into the third and the Blues cut the deficit to one four-and-a-half minutes in before Mercer restored the two-goal advantage on a power play with just under two minutes remaining.
The Cougars were 2-for-6 during man-advantage opportunities while Collingwood was 0-for-7.
Goaltender Ryan Piros earned the win in net to improve to 7-2-0 with a 2.45 goals-against average and .921 save percentage.
Next up for the Cougars is a road game Sunday evening against the North York Rangers (6-10-1-0) before returning home to face the Lindsay Muskies (5-13-1-0) on Monday night. Game time is 7 p.m. at the CCC.
