Cobourg Temporarily Suspends Downtown Parking to Encourage Access to Voting Stations

Final Four Days to Vote in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections

Paid parking downtown Cobourg temporarily suspended to ensure access to voting stations

The Town of Cobourg Legislative Services Division would like to remind all eligible electors that there are just four more days to vote in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections.

When the polls opened at 9:00am on October 14, 2022 the Town of Cobourg already had one enthusiastic resident waiting outside the door. Brent Larmer, Municipal Clerk and 2022 Elections Returning Officer is please to announce that since voting period began, Cobourg has already witnessed 22.2 % of eligible electors cast their vote (as of 12:30pm, Friday, October 21, 2022). To ensure that number continues to rise, and all eligible electors have the opportunity to cast their vote by election day, Monday October 24, 2022, the Town of Cobourg is temporarily suspending paid parking Downtown Cobourg until Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Voting in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections is completed online or by telephone which means that eligible electors can cast their ballot any time between now and 8:00pm on October 24, 2022. Those who require assistance, may visit one of the two Voter Support Centres at Victoria Hall or the Cobourg Public Library for assistance with online voting.


Unofficial Election Results:
Polls will close at 8:00pm on October 24, 2022. Once numbers have been tallied and verified, the Municipal Clerk and 2022 Election Returning Officer will post the unofficial results to a projection screen in the Concert Hall at Victoria Hall. All candidates and Cobourg residents are invited to attend to view the unofficial results as they are released by the Municipal Clerk. Additionally, the official results will be posted to the Municipal Elections Website, www.cobourgvotes.ca and issued out through a Public Notice pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act.

What better way to celebrate than to cast your vote and have your say in this next term of Council.The Town of Cobourg Legislative Services Division is calling on all eligible electors to cast their vote! If you know of anyone who has not yet voted, or requires assistance voting, encourage them to contact one of the Voter Support Centres at Victoria Hall or the Cobourg Public Library.

Did not Receive Your Voter Instruction Letter?  

Residents who did not receive their Voter Instruction Letter can confirm they are on the voters list, as well as receive their PIN’s by visiting the Office of the Municipal Clerk and 2022 Elections Returning Officer located at Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West. Eligible voters can still be added to the voters list until October 24, 2022. A reminder that polls close at 8:00pm on the 24th so electors are advised to give themselves enough time to register and vote.
