Rebound Child & Youth Services Northumberland Announces its 8th Annual Kilometers for Kids Run

In Upcoming Events

On Sunday, October 16th, 2022 Rebound Child & Youth Services Northumberland (Rebound) will be holding its 8th Annual Kilometers for Kids Run starting and finishing at Donegan Park in Cobourg, Ontario. Kilometers for Kids is back in-person after two years of virtual events and there is much excitement to host the run once again. In previous years, Rebound has had over 200 participants all across Northumberland County and are hoping for an even bigger number this year.

Kilometers for Kids is an annual family run/walk being held in the Town of Cobourg hosted by Rebound. Registration fees are $35 for adults with student and senior rates available for $25, as well as free for children 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult registrant. Runners and walkers from across Northumberland County can choose to participate in a 5K walk/jog, a 10K run, or a 1K fun run for the little ones. Participants are encouraged to collect pledges from family and friends to raise funds in support of the event. There is also an option to participate in this event virtually under the “Virtual Choose Your Own Challenge” section in the registration page.

Carol Beauchamp, the Executive Director of Rebound stated that “Kilometers for Kids is a wonderful way for families and runners and walkers of all abilities and ages to come together to support positive mental health and emotional wellness for children and youth in our community. We are seeing anxiety, depression, and many complex mental health issues including suicidal thoughts on the rise in younger children.  By supporting Rebound’s programs and services, you are supporting the young people of our community to build a healthier and stronger future. Help us to help the youth of our community.”

In 2021, although virtual, Kilometers for Kids was one of Rebound’s most successful events to date. The support of generous organizations and the strong commitment of participants and volunteers has allowed this run to become a tradition within the community. Our fundraising goal for this year’s event is $25,000 in honour of Rebound’s 25-year anniversary – and with the help of the Northumberland Community, they can make it. All proceeds from Kilometers for Kids will directly support Rebound’s programs and services and the hundreds of kids and families supported each year.
