Flags across Town lowered to half-staff, book of condolences available at Victoria Hall

The Town of Cobourg will be lowering the flags across the town to half-staff in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who died peacefully at age 96 on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
A book of condolences will be set up in the lobby of Victoria Hall (55 King Street West) for all who would like to sign. Following a three-week viewing, the book will be forwarded to the Palace the week of October 3rd

Earlier this year, Queen Elizabeth II became the first monarch to celebrate a platinum jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne.

“Her Majesty the Queen led with dignity and perseverance for 70 years,” says Mayor John Henderson. “During her time, she oversaw countries at war, experienced great personal tragedy, and embraced a rapidly changing world that led to a new age of how the Monarchy engages with the public. Throughout the years, she remained dedicated to her position and her posting.”

On behalf of Mayor and Council, the Town of Cobourg expresses their condolences to King Charles III and wish him great success as he embarks on a new era of the Monarchy.
