Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged With Assault Police, Obstruct Police, Mischief, Uttering Threats, Cause Disturbance (No Name Released)

A man has been charged with mischief and uttering threats after police are called to a local business.

On Sunday, August 21, 2022, at 6:55 p.m., police attended a business in the northwest end of Cobourg for a report of mischief in progress. Staff reported that upon leaving the store, an individual was throwing merchandise at the front entrance doors, yelling, and uttering threats to staff.

Police located an individual matching the description provided. After a brief foot pursuit, police safety made an arrest. As a result of police investigation, the 19-year-old Cobourg man was charged with the following offences:

1. Mischief Under $5,000, Contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

2. Causing a disturbance, contrary to section 175(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

3. Uttering Threats- Damage Property, contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) of the criminal code

4. Obstruct Peace Officer, Contrary to Section 129(a) of the criminal code

5. Assault Peace Officer, contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the criminal code

The man was held for a show cause hearing scheduled for later today.
