Ship Headed to Churchill Stops In Cobourg

The ship Matonabee pulled into Cobourg Marina on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

The newly built ship was built at Hike Metal in Wheatley which is on Lake Erie in Ontario and the destination will be Churchhill, Manitoba.

The ship stopped by Cobourg to refuel the 3,600 litre capacity before carrying on to Montreal where it will be put on a freighter and taken to Manitoba.

The Matonabee is 65-feet long and 35-feet wide, has four 350 horsepower engines and is owned by Lazy Bear Expeditions.

Today’s Northumberland was given a brief tour of the ship before leaving Cobourg.

Lazy Bear Expeditions and Churchill is world famous for their polar bear excursions.
