City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Youth Injured in Dirt Bike Collisioin

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a dirt bike collision over the weekend at which a 9-year-old was seriously injured.

On July 9, 2022 shortly before 3:00 pm officers received the call to a private property in Somerville Township. The youth sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they were later air lifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre. The youth had been wearing their helmet at the time of the collision.

The OPP would like to remind the public, when you are riding an off-road vehicle, always ride according to the trail, road and weather conditions and use extreme caution when turning, crossing, climbing and descending hills.
