Peterborough County OPP – Theft of Purse Suspect Arrested (Name Released)

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called at approximately 2:45pm on July 8, 2022 to investigate a theft that occurred at a restaurant in the village of Norwood. The complainant reported that someone had stolen their purse while they were briefly away from their table. Restaurant employees reviewed the surveillance footage and identified the suspect as a customer that was currently in the drive-thru attempting to use money from the stolen purse to purchase their food. Employees were able to keep the suspect in the parking lot until officers arrived.

Marta HERON (age 39) of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township, was arrested and charged with:

• Theft under $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 17, 2022.
