Vigil Held in Downtown Cobourg to Remember Man Who Died of a Drug Poisoning

In Local

Friends held a vigil in memory of Kory Trenouth on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 in downtown Cobourg.

A number of family members, family and strangers came out to remember the 36-year-old father of two who died of a suspected drug poisoning in the vestibule of Scotiabank in the early hours of June 30.

Police on patrol discovered Trenouth in medical distress and began life-saving efforts including Narcan.

Trenouth died at the scene.

On Tuesday, a number of people spoke about the good qualities Trenouth shared and how he wanted to make sure everyone felt welcomed and more importantly felt safe.

Trenouth always looked for the good in people when speaking with them and would always praise people.

Trenouth always wanted to invent a cigarette package with a ashtray inside.

One woman said he had the most beautiful smile and, “the most amazing hug.”

A friend spoke about getting to know Trenouth over the last two months and about the good qualities he had ending with, “we’re homeless, not helpless.”
