Welcome Home Smitty!

In Local, Police Blotter

Three time Stanley Cup winner Steve Smith was welcomed home on Thursday, June 23, 2022 by getting one of the hefty parking tickets that by-law officers have started to recently give out for expired meters along the waterfront area.

It was around 7 p.m. when Smith walked back to his vehicle parked at the bottom of Division Street and retrieved the ticket from underneath the wiper.

Smith didn’t check out the fine until he got back in his vehicle, but somewhat shrugged off the $160 fine saying he lives in the United States.

Director of Legislative Services/Municipal Clerk, Brent Larmer said by-law officers have issued 83 tickets this week. Each carrying a fine of $160.00.

If all fines are paid the total would be $13,280.
