Cabin Cruiser Sinks At Cobourg Marina

In Editor Choice, Local

A 30-foot cabin cruiser was just about completely submerged at the docks of Cobourg Marina on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

At approximately 6:45am the cabin cruiser which was docked at the time, began to take on water. Marina staff contacted Environmental Services immediately to mitigate the impacts of any spilled fuel.

The Coast Guard assisted the Marina Staff by towing away boats to safely access the downed vessel. Dundee Marine is currently on site to upright the tilted boat and to trailer it away.

Spilled fuel is being absorbed and appropriate ministries have been notified. The Ministry of Environment was on site to assess the situation and GFL assisted Town Environmental Services in vacuuming all of the fuel out of the water. There is no significant damage to municipal property. The immediate area is still restricted access, but Marina services remain open.
