In front of an appreciative crowd and playing through a brief rain, the Jacks held on to defeat the visiting Ajax Spartans by a score of 6-5.
Earning the win on the mound was Ryan Brodie who was followed in relief by Thomas Aronowicz and Jake Rogers.
After getting on the scoreboard with single runs in both the first and second innings, the Jacks enjoyed a four-run outburst in the fifth inning.
Northumberland took a 6-0 lead into the final inning and pulled out the narrow victory to improve to 2-0 early in the season.
The Jacks are back on the field at Donegan Park this Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader against the Thornhill Reds with the opening pitch for the second game on tap for a 4 p.m. start.
